Humans have lived on the earth all our lives. Without it, we would not survive long. This is our home and its energy and environment have made us what we are today. The basic idea behind earthing is being grounded to the earth’s subtle electric charge. As humans, we evolved walking on the earth with bare feet, or at least with shoes made with natural materials that didn’t break the earth’s connectivity from us. This kept us connected to her energy and kept us in sync with the earth, allowing for our advancement in evolution.
Since the modernization of humans, we have been disconnected from the cycles of nature. We’ve been lured by marketing to purchase products that insulate us from the subtle grounding energy of Mother Earth. Disconnecting us from that connection can allow inflammation to arise because our cells don’t have the free electrons that they require to protect us. Sure, if you eat a well-balanced diet, antioxidants can protect you but, if simply walking barefoot can bring your cells the charge you need, wouldn’t that be worth your time? The earth is pretty much like a big battery. Its electromagnetic field is charged by the sun’s rays. The surface of Earth is charged negatively and is conductive. If you stand on it barefoot, then you instantly become grounded to its frequency. Just think of the feeling of being at the beach. You have your feet on the sand and you’re allowing the water to touch them. That relaxed feeling being generated within your body is the frequency I am referencing. Your body is connected to the earth’s flow of energy and it’s vital to the health of your cells. You’re absorbing the negative electrons which puts your nervous system at ease. Knowing that we are electromagnetic beings, you can begin to understand where I am coming from here.
The electrons your body absorbs when grounded neutralize free-radical damage, restore healthy endocrine function, enhance cellular uptake of nutrients and much more. Even immunity is directly affected by the neutralization of inflammation. Think back to science class, where we learned that we are all basically made up of atoms and that these microscopic particles contain equal numbers of negatively charged electrons to positively charged protons. Once a cell loses that negative electron because of “dis-ease”, it becomes a free radical and can cause inflammation within the body. That’s where grounding comes in.
The man who was instrumental in founding this concept is named Clint Ober. He is considered by some as the Father of Earthing. There happens to be a free movie on YouTube, simply called The Earthing Movie. In it, Ober explains in depth how he discovered the idea of earthing and how he set up studies with other professionals to prove the effects of grounding. So far, 20 peer-reviewed research studies have been published studying this phenomenon. Many of the papers published can be found via Ober’s website, Ultimate Longevity. In addition, the National Center for Biotechnology Information of the U.S. National Library of Medicine, has released a paper called Earthing: Health Implications of Reconnecting the Human Body to the Earth’s Surface Electrons which reviews earthing research and its potential as a simple and accessible technique which may have of significant clinical benefits.
